Are you a Master student in Engineering at one of the technical universities in the Netherlands? Then this is your chance to meet ExxonMobil and discover what it’s like to start your career at one of our refineries or chemical plants! Join us on a 3-day expedition to our plant in Le Havre (France). During this dynamic trip you’ll get a good overview of what we do, and you’ll find out whether working at ExxonMobil is something for you!
We will depart Rotterdam central station around noon on a high-speed train towards Le Havre. During the comfortable train ride we’ll have time to get introduced as you’ll meet some of our young engineers. You’ll also start working on a first case-study while we watch the Dutch, Belgian and French countryside glide by. This case will be focused on refinery operations, and will give you an idea of the kind of questions our engineers face day-to-day. Upon arrival in Le Havre in the late afternoon, we’ll meet the French students, and check into our hotel. We’ll close the evening with a dinner in town.
The majority of the 2nd day will be spent at the Gravenchon plant, which is an extensive integrated site including a refinery and several chemical plants. The program is kicked-off with presentations by some senior managers, giving you a high-level view of ExxonMobil’s worldwide activities. Being a small group, these presentations will be interactive, and you’ll be able to discuss your views on the future of the energy industry with our leadership. A plant tour will conclude the morning program. After a light lunch at our Esso leisure club, we’ll start the afternoon with a challenging business game. This game will focus on the logistics of transporting refinery products, and will require quick and accurate calculations combined with strong negotiation tactics. Our day at the Gravenchon site will conclude with a session on the career development program at ExxonMobil. We’ll return to town for a management dinner, where you’ll be able to ask any of the remaining questions you may have in an informal atmosphere.
After breakfast you’ll receive a private tour of the picturesque town of Honfleur (weather permitting), which includes the largest church made out of wood in France. After a light lunch, we’ll say goodbye to the French delegation, and we’ll take the high-speed train back to Rotterdam.
We will take care of all transportation and accommodation arrangements from Rotterdam CS and back. More exact timings will be communicated once you are invited.
