ING International Talent Programme – Retail Banking

The ING international Talent Programma (IITP) is a three year traineeship in which you can reach your full potential, allowing you to really make a difference within ING. You will have the opportunity to get to know our business. By doing various high impact projects and the extensive development possibilities you will be able to gain a lot of expertise and experience in a short period of time.

Being at the wheel during further development of Retail Banking

There are 5 tracks within the IITP programme, one of them is the Retail Banking track. Retail Banking trainees on day one start on a project within the Dutch Retail Bank of ING. These are projects that add to improvement and growth within the private consumer market, small and medium enterprises as well as corporations and institutions. You will continuously be thinking of our clients’ needs and how to interpret them, you can think of the following projects:

  • Help Product Management Mortgages in order to make their mortgages and other services more transparent.
  • Analysing and defining a product strategy for Savings for SME clients.
  • Take charge of the organization of a large event for private banking clients as Marketer Private Banking.

Responsible as of day one

From the start of the traineeship onwards you will be in charge of projects in the role of for instance project manager and you will be responsible for stakeholder management. You will be involved in projects that actually influence ING’s business. After fulfilling the first year of the traineeship you will apply for a permanent position based on your personal preferences. From this position you will develop into a managerial position with a broader scope. How broad this scope is, is completely up to you!

Education and mentoring

As a trainee you will take part in global events together with the other Dutch as well as international trainees. In addition you will follow a track specific educational program, you can think of the following training:

  • Personal development, such as presentation techniques and stakeholder management
  • Professional development, such as the General Bank Training
  • Organisational development, such as structuring strategic priorities.
  • As a trainee you will also receive a lot of coaching. Through various channels you will be handed tools and support in order to make the most out of yourself during the traineeship.
  • Your line manager will be giving you feedback on your daily work, will support you in your development and will discuss and evaluate your progress. An HR advisor from Management Development will be helping you with your career choices and finding your next assignment. And a Senior Manager will be your mentor who will support, inspire, share strategical insights with you as well as introduce your to their network.

Self in charge!

An important part of the IITP is in your own hands. Based on your interests, curiosity and development needs you can submit your preferences for your first project. For this role we will than see if we can find a match between your wishes and the possibilities within the business. For your second project and your first position you will take initiative. If you would like to go on an international adventure this is also one of the many possibilities. As you can see, for a great part you are in charge of the direction of your IITP!

  • a Master degree
  • obtained a maximum of two years’ work experience after your graduation
