The Van Hessen Group has been in existence for over 100 years and forms a major part of the over $1 billion (USD) industry that supplies skins for sausages and hot dogs (commonly known as “casings”) to the sausage industry. We offer recently graduated university students a unique opportunity to develop themselves in a multi-national. During the approximately 1 year and 3 months training period - of which a substantial part takes place in at least China, Europe, the United States - the trainee will become acquainted with the full line of products and production processes. In addition, the trainee will be exposed to various areas of management throughout the program. The objective of the program is to develop the trainee for a key position within the Van Hessen Group.
We believe that the key to success is knowledge. We have found that our personnel is most successful with extensive knowledge of our products, processes and management style. Armed with this knowledge the trainee can assume a position within the group after finishing the program. To secure qualified colleagues, Van Hessen has opted to fund, maintain and operate its management trainee program.
In general, no specific education or course of study is required to start as a trainee. The only requirement is that the education followed should be on a university level or equivalent level. Our focus is on the quality of the person rather than the resume. Character traits like perseverance, drive to succeed, mastery, creativity and motivation are central pillars upon which we base our business.
Is work experience a requirement to qualify for the trainee program?
Some prior work experience is welcome but not specifically required.
Every trainee is assigned a tutor and a mentor. The tutor is a former trainee who will guide the trainee on a day to day basis. A mentor is an experienced senior manager with extensive knowledge of the products and processes. The trainee will also be given a coach who provides support and who will review the general development of the trainee. While the trainee is abroad, the trainee will also report to a local tutor.
The objective of the program is to develop the trainee for a key position in one of the functional areas within our group. The three major areas in which the trainee can develop are: purchase, production and sales.
